LED
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. With the LED technology completely new possibilities for lighting design in rooms come along:
- In the living area moving images can be created in different colors to provide the right atmosphere. Furthermore, art items and pictures can be atmospherically illuminated and accentuated. You can also make glass objects shine in the interplay of colors (e.g. champagne coolers, bowls ...).
- In the industrial sector advertising space can be emphasized with LED technology in the right light.
What is LED lighting?

Light Emitting Diodes have been used for years in many well-known commodities. These are little light points - usually in red and green colors - for example in the hi-fi system, on kitchen machines, in the car as a gear change indicator and operation indicator and as a brake light. They are known to be very robust and durable. In recent years, the diodes have been improved greatly. With the introduction of blue LEDs, it was now possible, in combination with red and green, to produce a white light. The breakthrough came with the white LED and through the extreme improvement of luminosity. The LED will revolutionize the lighting technology over the next few years.
LED compared to other illuminants

LEDs that produce white light, today offer 20-25 lumens / watt. Thus, compared, for example, to incandescent lamps, they are more efficient in the way of conversion of electric power into light. Especially with its long lifetime, low temperature and mechanical robustness, LED opens in comparison to other illuminants completely new possibilities. When colored light is used, the LED has the advantage of generating only the required spectrum. Other light sources need filters or coatings to produce color, that can swallow up to 80% light.
The benefits of LED bulbs

-
LEDs have a very long lifetime (about 100 000 hours compared to 1,000 hours of a halogen lamp). The LED technology is especially suitable for difficult-to-reach areas.
-
No maintenance costs are incurred, so the LED is regarded as an especially efficient bulb.
-
LEDs provide illumination in a small space, the shape of the board can be chosen freely.
-
For use on lighting by UV and heat-sensitive goods and objects, LEDs are ideal because they emit no ultraviolet or infrared radiation.
-
The use of differently colored LEDs in a light source allows for individual color mixing. This provides many potential applications in buildings: color therapy in the spa area, color mood in the room, moving images, illumination of art items. Advertising space, displays, glass objects with color interplay, e.g. champagne coolers, bowls, etc.
